Massacre in Silence
The Islamic Republic has executed more of its own people than it has lost in the war with Israel.

While in the Islamic Republic’s official media the war with Israel is portrayed as the most important battle between right and wrong, and the authorities speak of “defending the oppressed Palestinians,” a darker reality lies behind this propaganda and in the shadow of war. A reality that has nothing to do with Israel’s borders or any foreign conflict, but is played out inside Iran’s prisons and unjust courts: the widespread execution of Iranian citizens, in deadly silence.

In just the past month, more than 110 people have been executed in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This figure, confirmed by Iran Human Rights, the Abdorrahman Boroumand Foundation, and other independent human rights organizations, is numerically higher than the officially reported deaths in the Iran–Israel conflict from missile and drone attacks this year. In the war the Islamic Republic has been beating the drum for over four decades—culminating in a direct attack on Israeli territory in April with the launch of hundreds of missiles—its human losses have been far fewer than the domestic executions in Iran.

The executions carried out in the prisons of Karaj, Yazd, Shiraz, Ahvaz, Kohgiluyeh, Zahedan, Mirjaveh, Kurdistan, and other parts of Iran have not been limited to those convicted of premeditated murder. Among them are many people sentenced on vague charges, without fair trial procedures, and based on forced confessions extracted under torture. Teenagers, political and ethnic activists, impoverished workers, and Kurdish, Baluch, and Arab prisoners are among the victims of this silent repression.

At a time when the Islamic Republic seeks to present itself as the defender of the oppressed in the region, its judicial and security system has turned into a tool for suppressing, eliminating, and intimidating its own people. The policy of “execution for fear” has replaced justice.

جمهوری اسلامی بیش از آن‌که در جنگ با اسرائیل کشته داده باشد، مردم خودش را اعدام کرده است.

در حالی که در رسانه‌های رسمی جمهوری اسلامی، جنگ با اسرائیل به‌عنوان مهم‌ترین تقابل حق و باطل معرفی می‌شود و مسئولان حکومت از «دفاع از مظلومان فلسطینی» سخن می‌گویند، واقعیتی تاریک‌تر در پشت این تبلیغات و در سایه جنگ نهفته است. واقعیتی که نه به مرزهای اسرائیل مربوط است و نه به جنگی خارجی، بلکه در دل زندان‌ها و دادگاه‌های بی‌عدالت ایران رقم می‌خورد. اعدام گسترده‌ی شهروندان ایرانی، در سکوتی مرگبار.

طی تنها یک ماه اخیر، بیش از ۱۱۰ نفر در زندان‌های جمهوری اسلامی ایران اعدام شده‌اند. آماری که از سوی سازمان حقوق بشر ایران، بنیاد عبدالرحمن برومند و دیگر نهادهای مستقل حقوق بشری تأیید شده است. این رقم از نظر عددی بیش از کشته‌شدگان رسمی جنگ ایران و اسرائیل در حملات موشکی و پهپادی سال جاری است! در جنگی که بیش از چهل سال است جمهوری اسلامی بر طبل آن می‌کوبد، با حمله‌ی مستقیم به خاک اسرائیل در ماه آوریل و ارسال صدها موشک، تلفات انسانی‌اش به‌مراتب کمتر از اعدام‌های داخلی ایران بوده است.

اعدام‌هایی که در زندان‌های کرج، یزد، شیراز، اهواز، کهگیلویه، زاهدان، میرجاوه، کردستان و دیگر نقاط ایران انجام شده‌اند، صرفاً مختص محکومان قتل عمد نبوده‌اند. در میان آن‌ها تعداد زیادی از افراد با اتهامات مبهم، فاقد روند دادرسی عادلانه و بر اساس اعترافات اجباری ناشی از شکنجه، به چوبه‌ی دار سپرده شده‌اند. نوجوانان، فعالان سیاسی و قومی، کارگران فقرزده، زندانیان کورد، بلوچ و عرب از جمله قربانیان این سرکوب خاموش هستند.

در زمانی که جمهوری اسلامی در تلاش است خود را به‌عنوان مدافع مظلومان در منطقه معرفی کند، نظام قضایی و امنیتی آن به ابزار سرکوب، حذف و ارعاب مردم خودش بدل شده است. سیاست «اعدام برای ترس» جایگزین عدالت شده است.

 مهم‌ترین مسئله، نه فقط تعداد بالای اعدام‌هاست، بلکه سکوت رسانه‌ای و بی‌تفاوتی جامعه جهانی نسبت به این جنایات سیستماتیک است.

اعدام در ایران، نه ابزار عدالت، بلکه سلاحی برای کنترل سیاسی، ایجاد رعب وحشت و نابودی صداهای مخالف است.

ایرانِ در این چهل و پنج سال اخیر و تحت حاکمیت ملاها، به قتل‌گاهی قانونی برای شهروندان خود تبدیل شده است.
